The route starts among palm trees and oleanders, to the summit of Mount La Rosa, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Gulf of Squillace. From the stele of Sant'Antonio da Padova, begins the descent towards the town where you can visit the central Piazza Regina Elena with its characteristic black poplar and its "menzalora," an ancient grain measurement unit. From Petrizzi to Monterosso Calabro, the real trail begins starting. The route, completely immersed in the countryside, will reach the former stone toll booth of the San Vito sullo Ionio Station. The route enters a vast beech forest where you reach the highest point of the entire route, where you can admire the numerous snow pits and the legendary "stone of the fairy". Arrival at the residence. Typical dinner and overnight stay. (Approximately 58 km)
rd Day: From Monterosso Calabro to Tropea From Monterosso Calabro to Pizzo Calabro. The route continues inside the natural oasis among the wonderful views of the lake, where, if you are lucky, you can admire numerous bird species, including the grey heron, which breed here. The itinerary allows us to enjoy a splendid view of the entire Serre panorama. Descending towards Pizzo, on clearer days, the panorama offers a view over the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia, the island of Stromboli, and the mountains of Orsomarso in the Pollino National Park with an unparalleled view of the Costa degli Dei. We arrive at the fascinating Aragonese Castle, Piazza della Repubblica, where you can refresh yourself with the characteristic and now well-known "truffle of Pizzo." We will reach the renowned Tropea, the pearl of the Tyrrhenian, one of the best-known and appreciated resorts by tourists, not only as a renowned center of Calabrian summer nightlife but also for its history, beaches, and red onion. We will pass by the promontory of Capo Tonnara. A splendid place overlooking the sea immersed in 30,000 square meters of Mediterranean scrub overlooking a bay of rare beauty, bathed in crystal-clear sea and bordered by submerged cliffs. Arrival at the residence. Typical dinner and overnight stay. (Approximately 45 km)
th Day: From Tropea to Taurianova Today we cycle in the Plain of Gioia Tauro to reach the village of Cinquefrondi, a village that looks like a terrace on the Plain, nestled on the lush slopes of the high Plain of Gioia Tauro, the village has about seven thousand inhabitants and acts as a hinge between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian, thanks to the road that penetrates its territory overlapping on an ancient path traced by the Greeks of Locri when they looked out over this part of Calabria, rich in pearls to discover. We will also pass by Capo Vaticano (with a spectacular view of the Tyrrhenian) and cross the Costa degli Dei, reaching the two ancient villages of Joppolo and Caroniti, characterized by streets made of local granite stone, admiring the Gulf of Gioia Tauro with its port, the Strait of Messina, and Mount Etna, Stromboli, and the Aeolian Islands. We will reach Nicotera before entering the Plain of Gioia Tauro and arriving in Cinquefrondi. Dinner and overnight stay. (Approximately 68 km)
th Day: From Taurianova to Roccella Ionica Today we return to the Ionian coast, also known as the Costa dei Gelsomini, thanks to the presence of fragrant jasmine. Here the beaches are large and sandy, and the coast is wild in an area that blends history and natural beauty. We will cycle in the heart of Locride, on the Ciclovia dei Parchi, with a visit to Gerace, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, a place where you can breathe a medieval air. We will continue on the Ionian up to Roccella Ionica through Locri, Siderno, and Gioiosa Ionica. The arrival in the town of Roccella, with a strong tourist vocation and a great historical tradition, every year hosts the Rumori Mediterranei jazz festival. Dinner by the sea to celebrate the arrival on the coast. Overnight stay. (Approximately 50 km)
th Day: From Roccella Ionica to Soverato Biking along the coast to Riace Marina, along a route that traverses the splendid surrounding nature, you arrive in the small village, passing through the ancient pebble-stone gate that once marked its main entrance. It is here that, by pure chance, two large warrior figures were discovered lying on the sea floor a few meters deep near the coast: The Bronzes! We will continue towards Monasterace, where the small village welcomes us. Nestled gently among the hills of the Stilaro and Allaro valleys, it is believed to derive its name from Monasteraki, which in Greek means "small monastery." (Possible deviation towards Stilo, which belongs to the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy). We will climb towards Badolato (a very beautiful village) and then continue the bike ride downhill along the coastal road until we reach the starting point of Soverato, to celebrate the achievement of this great cycling milestone.
