Marmore Waterfalls

Marmore Waterfalls is one of the excellences of Umbria, it's a scenary of incomparable charm, produced by the roar of the Velino river that plunge into the Nera for a total height difference of 165 meters.

The Waterfall is the result of man's masterly work over the centuries with the aim of reclaiming large swamp areas, starting with the intervention of the Roman consul Manlio Curio Dentato in 271 a. C.
The jump of the Velino into Nera - sung and represented by travelers, poets and painters up to assume that canon, celebrated by romanticism, of "horrible beauty" - became in the eighteenth and eight hundred one of the obligatory destinations of the Grand Tour.
The waters of the waterfall are fundamental for the production of electricity and for the industrial development of the city of Terni.
For this it's possible to admire the waterfall in its maximum capacity at the time of release of water. Within the tourist-excursion area, paths and paths allow you to enter the heart of the natural environment of the waterfall, rich in spontaneous flora and characteristic geological formations, and to admire the picturesque scenery from various vantage points of the belvedere.
The numerous additional services available to visitors (guided touristic and educational visits, botanical visits, animated visits, visits to the cave and at night) allow you to fully enjoy the environment of the waterfall.
