Among the torrential opportunities offered by the Umbrian landscape, the "Fosso della Matassa" could be called a baby-canyon, well engraved in the stratified limestones of the Martani mounts but without excessive vertical differences to be overcome in rope.
The throat, always dry, is ideal to approach the sporting canyoning, as a gym where you learn the basic principles of the technique of vertical progression on the rope, not difficult but not trivial, set in a varied and evocative environment.
Close to the hiking circuit, the gorge falls to the bottom of the spiers on which stands, like an eagle's nest, the characteristic village of Scoppio, where there is also a large rocky wall equipped for training in speleo-torrent techniques.
At the end of the descent, the return crosses another confluent gorge, even more suggestive than the previous one, where a certain agility is required in overcoming simple and amusing steps.
Overall a pleasant and rewarding excursion, suitable for everyone.
