A Walk of Francis could not end at Poggio Bustone, although this is a fundamental step.
The discovery of the steps of St. Francis continued then towards one of the destinations of the great pilgrim, perhaps the main one for those like him who was particularly devoted to the Archangel Michael: Monte Sant'Angelo. the path was born from the study of the territory and the Franciscan sources in an attempt to understand where Francis may have passed to go to the Grotto of the Archangel, the first place of Christian pilgrimage in Italy and the Way particularly beaten by medieval men.
The Umbria of San Francesco was a Lombard Duchy and we know that the Umbrians went with great pilgrimages to the cave of the Archangel, the main Saint of the Longobards. This path traces a diagonal 511km long in central Italy, divided into 25 stages through Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia, partly crossing mule tracks and tratturi, stopping in villages and towns to be discovered that preserve memories of the passage of Saint Francis.
Our proposal covers the first 13 stages of the Way, from Poggio Bustone to Ateleta, providing accommodation at the Agritourism or Hotel and half board.
