Even today, a good part of the walled cities in the Veneto region is perfectly preserved, allowing you to immerse yourself in medieval atmospheres and touch the history of the Veneto territory. In many areas of Veneto, the remains of a glorious past are still visible, those towns strategically located that equipped themselves with walls to defend against external attacks. There are more than thirty of them, scattered throughout the region, and with us, you will have the pleasure of discovering two in particular: Cittadella and Castelfranco! Cittadella is the walled city par excellence, a rare example of an intact city wall. The ancient walkway is still accessible: the view from above and from various points guarantees a suggestive experience, spanning from the city to the surrounding countryside, up to the mountains. Castelfranco is the walled town in Treviso, also famous for the painter Giorgione.
1st Day: Arrival in the late afternoon in Cittadella. After dinner and a briefing, it is possible to visit the historic center and its walls.
2nd Day: Today's route develops along the Brenta natural park, a completely cycle-friendly ring of great naturalistic value. After the first part immersed in nature, we arrive in late morning in Piazzola sul Brenta, with the possibility to visit Villa Contarini and its park. Return in the afternoon to Cittadella. Approximately 50 km.
3rd Day: Today, the bikes will take us to visit Castelfranco Veneto, a walled town in the Treviso area. The symbol of the city is undoubtedly the medieval castle, built towards the end of the 12th century as a strategic fortress to counter the rise of the antagonist Padua. Aperitif in the spacious and welcoming square and return to Cittadella for farewells! Approximately 30 km.
