An island of stone on the green hills of Umbria: the splendid Abbey of San Faustino is a timeless place, an abbey of the thirteenth century that blends beautifully with a modern holiday resort in Umbria.
A short distance from wonderful villages such as Pietralunga, Umbertide, Città di Castello, Montone will allow you to discover the high valley of the Tiber on the border with Marche and Tuscany.
Built on the ruins of a Roman settlement and a subsequent Longobard tower, the construction of the Abbey was completed by the Benedictines in 1289. Recently restored, it maintains intact the charm and atmosphere of a medieval architecture, evoked by handmade ceramics, wrought iron lamps, fine fabrics. During the Second World War, the Abbey of San Faustino was the headquarters of a partisan brigade that opposed the occupying forces. Walter Orebaugh, the American consul in Nice, talks about this period in his book 'The Consul'.
The Abbey has 16 rooms (Classic, Superior, Junior Suite and Suite), finely furnished, each one distinguished by charm and uniqueness. When you wake up, a continental breakfast buffet with local and homemade products will be served in the old church or on the panoramic terrace in front of it. The restaurant on the veranda offers an extraordinary view of the landscape in every season. A second room, particularly intimate, is located in the old barn. The charm of the context, created by the ancient monastery, is combined with the pleasure of rediscovering authentic flavors of local tradition.
For complete relaxation, there is also a large outdoor swimming pool and a garden with benches and private spaces set among plants and flowers.
