The Marmore Falls, of Pleistocene origin, is an extraordinary example of the relationship between Man and Nature: the numerous hydraulic modifications carried out from Roman times until the early twentieth century helped shape a landscape that today strongly identifies with each other. Its beauty has been celebrated over the centuries by painters and poets of the Grand Tour, while its naturalistic value is recognized by its inclusion in the Natura 2000 Network.
The Park is crossed by six paths, with numerous panoramic points of the waterfall and the picturesque Valnerina, characterised by mountains, ravines and medieval villages. Along path 5 you can admire the ancient turbines of hydroelectric power plants, today almost like modern sculptures. The area also houses a fascinating underground world, with around 300 caves, some of which can be visited.
A short distance away is Lake Piediluco, from which the Velino River makes the famous 165-meter drop to flow into the Nera, creating one of Umbria's most spectacular landscapes.
The educational program includes an entrance and guided tour of the Marmore Falls Park lasting approximately 1 hour, followed by a boat tour of Piediluco Lake.
