The strip of land between Lecce (in Apulia region) and the sea is a picturesque area with the typical landscape of the Salento district. It also features important evidences of the past.
Proceeding South-East of Lecce along secondary roads will reach the hamlet of Acaya, a fortified small town of Messapian origin, with its imposing castle, the defensive walls and the ubanistic plan typical of such ancient settlements.
Will then continue to the naturalistic reserve of Le Cesine, a wet area protected by WWF housing many varieties of plants and sea birds. Will return to Lecce crossing the typicla local rural areas, rich of millennial olive groves and tiny villages. Will also stop en route for a bath at Torre Specchia.
