The birth of Gragnano pasta is the result of 4 fundamental and very important concepts: history, geography, exchange and human heritage. These are the factors that have favored the development of an ancient technical and spiritual wisdom handed down from generation to generation.
The geographical position of Gragnano is however at the origin of everything: a hinge that connects the Gulf of Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast. The intense blue of the sea and the bright green of the Lattari have been the backdrop to this long and narrow strip of land, always the barn of Naples.
According to some, Gragnano pasta dates back to Roman times, but it is only at the end of the 16th century that family-run pasta factories were born: they are the first steps of an activity in which automation is lacking and most of the work is entrusted to the hands.
Our company motto is still this: to produce Gragnano PGI pasta with yesterday's techniques and tomorrow's machines. All production takes place within the Gragnano territory, according to established patterns over time and conditions that satisfy the protected geographical identity marking.
The Ducato D'Amalfi pasta factory specializes in the artisanal production of PGI Gragnano Pasta. Only 100% Italian wheat and water from the springs of the Lattari Mountains are used, according to the tradition of the Gragnan pasta makers, synonymous with quality, precision and care. Only bronze dies are used for the dough, respecting the slow drying technique and the packaging is done strictly by hand. The end result is a pasta that preserves all the nutritional principles and retains the flavor of each seasoning.
The gastronomic journey includes, in addition to the visit to the pasta factory, a surprising multimedia journey that will allow you to immerse yourself in the virtual reality of twentieth-century Gragnano. You can stroll along the ancient Via Roma, listen to the placid murmur of the streams along the Valle dei Mulini and let yourself be caressed by the delicate breaths that blow from the Lattari Mountains.
At the end there will be a tasting which includes 3 traditional first courses accompanied by a glass of wine, at the internal restaurant "La Cucina del Ducato" under the advice of 2* Michelin chef Domenico Stile.
