The territory of the Monti Sibillini National Park includes the homonymous mountain range about 30 km long, with wild valleys and wooded sides that descend steeply up to the hilly edges. The ridge line of the chain coincides with the geographical watershed that divides the Tyrrhenian side from the Adriatic side.
The starting point of the itinerary is from the town of Castelluccio di Norcia, which dominates the homonymous large basin of tectonic-karst origin and in turn dominated by the imposing coasts of Monte Vettore, the highest peak of the entire group. You then go down to Pian Grande, cross it until you reach the areas of the sinkhole and continuing in a ring you return.
