Discover the paths along the banks of rivers and along the canals of Bassa Romagna. Land and water are the elements that characterize Bassa Romagna, a corner of Italy to explore by strolling or pedaling slowly along the riverbanks and canals. The entire landscape is marked by the presence of water, the sweet and precious water of rivers that makes the land so fertile. It's a lush countryside dotted with rural buildings, manor houses, traces of ancient valley life, aquatic plants, and an incredible number of rare birds. This vacation will allow you to cycle along the banks of the Savio, Uso, Marecchia, Rio Salto, Rubicone, Rigossa rivers in a natural environment with delightful encounters with flora and fauna, allowing you to discover a true Romagna, still somewhat secret for most.
1st Day: Arrival in Cervia Arrival at the accommodation, bike fitting. Visit to the town on the Adriatic. Dinner and overnight stay.
2nd Day: from Cervia (along the Savio River) It is a marked route that connects Cervia to Cesena along the Savio River bank. We reach Canuzzo, a fraction of Cervia, then Castiglione di Ravenna with the beautiful Palazzo Grossi, with a mandatory stop also in Pisignano at the Pieve di Santo Stefano. We continue through a natural route within the pine forest, crossing the salt pans until we reach Milano Marittima and then Cervia, along the canal port from where the Salt Route to Venice departed. Dinner and overnight stay. (about 45 km)
3rd Day: from Cervia (cycle paths of the Uso and Marecchia rivers) Departure. Today we pedal through the Cervia Salt Pans before reaching the Leonardesque Port of Cesenatico. We pass through Gatteo Mare, San Mauro Mare, and arrive in Bellaria to take the cycle path of the Uso River. The "Paths for the Uso" route concerns the riverbank of the Uso in the Municipalities of Bellaria Igea Marina and San Mauro Pascoli. Then we will continue on white and asphalted roads until we reach the confluence with the Marecchia River Cycle Path, the river that descends from Montefeltro, among the mountains where the Tiber also originates. However, unlike the 'blond' river of Rome, the Marecchia flows towards the Adriatic, the sea where it flows, near Rimini, in the final stretch when it runs through a short stretch of plain, widens into a bed that has now become a natural oasis crossed by a beautiful cycle path. Here, we will arrive at Santarcangelo di Romagna to visit one of the most beautiful villages in the entire Romagna. Return and departure to your destinations. (about 48 km)
