Day 1: From Assisi to Spoleto We depart from the city of St. Francis towards Spoleto, crossing a charming olive grove area characterized by centuries-old olive trees that connect Spello, Foligno, and Trevi, splendid villages where you can admire an immense historical and artistic heritage. Finally, we will reach Spoleto for overnight stay. (Distance: 55km Elevation gain: 300m)
Day 2: From Spoleto to Ferentillo The picturesque route will take you from Spoleto to Ferentillo, a typical medieval village nestled in the Umbrian hills, through the Ex Ferrovia Spoleto-Norcia cycle path, characterized by galleries and viaducts and immersed in an enchanting natural scenery, entirely redeveloped and secured along the Nera Greenway. (Distance: 45km Elevation gain: 600m)
Day 3: From Ferentillo to Orte The third day will take you from Ferentillo to Orte passing through the spectacular Marmore Waterfall and then, crossing Terni following the Nera River, you will then reach the Gole di Narni, where you can admire the crystalline waters of Stifone, before reaching Lake San Liberato where shortly after the Nera River joins the Tevere River. (Distance: 50km Elevation gain: 550m)
Day 4: From Orte to the Tevere-Farfa Nature Reserve The route continues along the Tevere River, passing by the remains of Ocriculum, an ancient Roman municipality on the banks of the river, until reaching the Tevere-Farfa Nature Reserve, where the river flows slowly forming wide bends and meanders and where the rich presence of birds in the lake environment constitutes one of the main attractions for visitors. Day 5: From the Tevere-Farfa Nature Reserve to Rome The final stage is just a smooth ride into Rome, taking the Labaro Cycle Path, which, skirting the Tiber River on an asphalted surface, will take you to the center of the eternal city and St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. (Distance: 55km Elevation gain: 300m)
The itinerary is designed for cyclists who love white roads away from traffic. With an average of about 50km per day, the route also includes stretches of paved secondary roads
