With this trekking you can visit a part of the highest active volcano in Europe, away from the beaten path, through the path of Serracozzo. You will walk along the north side of Etna, along stretches of woods and ancient lava flows to the edges of the lava desert, and then look out over the immense and lunar Valle del Bove. It's a geological and landscape wonder with inside craters, lava flows and majestic dikes. The view of the Mediterranean, Taormina and Sartorius craters will leave you breathless. The departure is from Taormina or Giardini Naxos, from your hotel, around 08.00.
It starts along the slopes of Etna at an altitude of 1700 meters, in Rifugio Citelli. The first twenty minutes are uphill through a forest of birch and pine trees, towards Serracozzo at an altitude of 1920 meters. The second part of the exit is planned to arrive on the ridge of the Valle del Bove at an altitude of 2100 meters. After admiring the lunar landscape of the Valle del Bove, continue to climb up to Pizzi Deneri at an altitude of 2800 meters, following the ridge of the north-east wall that borders the Valle del Bove.
