From Gubbio a fun and easy trekking route along the Bottaccione Gorge, one of the most important places for the theory on the extinction of the dinosaurs!

You start from the former Monastery of San Benedetto and cross an ancient medieval aqueduct to the gorge where you can admire the stratified rocks that testify to various geological eras from the Jurassic to the Cretaceous.
In the 1980s, an enormous amount of iridium, a metal found in meteorites and rare on earth, was discovered in this area, which is why it is thought that this place is linked to the extinction of the dinosaurs.
