Sovicille is a town in the province of Siena (Tuscany) within the hills of the Montagnola Senese.
The origin of the town probably dates back to Etruscan times.
Characteristics are two peculiarities that distinguish it from other Sienese inhabitants: the sovicillinate language, now in disuse, represents a real linguistic island with the palatalization of the consonant L.
Another characteristic is the presence of the Romanesque Lucchese in the architecture, while in the rest of the territory a Lombard or Byzantine is common.
