Tenuta Castelbuono occupies 30 hectares in the municipalities of Bevagna and Montefalco (Umbria), is owned by the Lunelli family, who have been at the helm of the Cantine Ferrari for three generations.
Since 2003 it has produced an excellent Sagrantino which was followed by Montefalco Rosso in 2004. The undisputed symbol of the winery is the "Carapace", created by one of the major contemporary artists, Arnaldo Pomodoro. It is a unique work, the first sculpture in the world in which people live and work. Definitely noteworthy is its shape which resembles a turtle, a symbol of stability and longevity which, with its carapace, represents the union between earth and sky. The cellar in fact presents itself to the eye as a large dome covered in copper, engraved externally by cracks that recall the furrows of the earth and internally by the signs that are the unmistakable artistic signature of Arnaldo Pomodoro. A red dart-shaped sculptural element that sticks into the ground underlines the work in the landscape.
The visit to the cellar will end with a wine tasting inside the suggestive Carapace.
The types of provisions, which always include a sommelier and a visit to the monument, are as follows:
