Festival dei Due Mondi

The "Festival dei Due Mondi", also known as Spoleto Festival, is an international event of music, art, culture and entertainment that takes place annually in the city of Spoleto. Founder of the Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto is the master composer Gian Carlo Menotti (who died in 2007), who established the event in 1958.

After visiting many historic centers in central Italy, Menotti opted for Spoleto for the presence of the two theaters and for the unique scenery of the Piazza del Duomo. The artists and characters who took part in it belong to the world of prose, lyric, dance, marionette art, oratory art, music, cinema and painting. For many years the event has remained the only one in Italy and today, at national and European level, it represents one of the most important cultural events.

Characteristic of the event is the originality, the unusual and sometimes the exclusivity of the proposed shows. In fact, the Spoleto Festival has always tried to offer cutting-edge novelties and performances but also to respect the classical tradition. Moreover, the numerous spaces and architectural views, which the city of Spoleto presents, contribute to create a dualism between ancient art and unique contemporary art.

17 days of great events, transforming the city into a real stage that will host performances of opera, music, theater and dance, exhibitions, film events and many guests.

Every year the Spoleto Festival confirms its original character and the prestige of an important international event. A historic meeting place between different cultures, today it offers a consolidated showcase for great artists and emerging artists and above all it is an unstoppable workshop of original productions.
