Norcia

Norcia is an Italian town in the province of Perugia 600 Mt above sea level and within the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains; it is the connecting point between the Valnerina, a river valley excavated by the Nera River, and the Sibillini mountains, a mountainous area of ​​tectonic origin.

 The foundation of the city probably dates back to the 5th century as a work by the Sabines. It was then conquered by the Romans in the III century BC, obtaining Roman citizenship and 268 BC. He was an ally of Rome in the war against Carthage.

During the Middle Ages, Norcia was under the Papal Domain and was established as a free municipality only in the 12th century.

The typical pork products of Norcia find their peculiarity in the production techniques, absolutely traditional. One of the most famous products is Prosciutto di Norcia.
