Where to practice canyoning in Umbria

Umbria is a region rich in history, culture, traditions and also many possibilities for canyoning. Some canyons are classics of this activity and are repeated every year by many enthusiasts who choose them for their beauty first of all, but also for their accessibility, since they are often itineraries that if traveled in the right period, do not require special attention.

In the south-eastern part of the region, in Valnerina, a few kilometers from the Marmore Falls, the first canyoning that you meet is that of the Casco gorge, a torrent that brings water all year round, even in the middle of summer, with beautiful verticals, of which a spectacular that gives the name to the route.

Nearby there is one of the most famous and great as extension and height difference, that of Pago le Fosse. This canyoning, unlike the other, is always dry, but allows a very high number of descents and the environment is of a unique beauty.

Continuing along the valnerina towards Norcia, there is the small, but not less interesting, canyoning of Roccagelli. It develops mostly vertically and has the peculiarity of having always a good chance of finding water flow, especially in spring. This feature makes it a great choice for beginners.

To the west, in the part of Umbria between the beautiful cities of Orvieto and Todi, there is a canyoning route that is a real gem: the Forra di  Prodo. Probably it is the most beautiful in the region and we believe that we are competing for the first place with the other routes throughout the national territory.
