How to drive an e-Bike

How to ride an electric bike in plain

Although they are heavier than normal bicycles, because of the engine and the battery, electric bikes can be theorically driven even without activating the assisted pedaling. This is true in the plain, where there are no differences in level to overcome and, reasonably, you can proceed at moderate speed.

But to take full advantage of the electric bike in the plains, should be better to set a hard ratio, enough to be sustainable for the own physical form, activate the assisted pedaling even at a minimum and ride being under 25 km/h speed, which allows the engine to assist the pedaling by reducing the effort.
But be careful, because over 25 km/h it is useless to increase the power of the engine, because it does not turn on and you only proceed with the force of your legs, which may make it necessary to use a more agile ratio.

How to ride an electric bike uphill

Electric bikes are mainly used to tackle climbs by reducing the effort, starting from the assumption that an amateur biker, not particularly trained and therefore takes an e-bike, is absolutely not able to face a real climb at a speed exceeding 25 km/h.

So how do you ride an electric bike uphill?
Meanwhile, the gearbox is set to an agile ratio, which has a reduced metric development but allows you to pedal without hardening the legs on the pedals. Then you set the level of assistance, which are normally 3 or 4 depending on the bike models, the engine and battery manufacturer and possibly also the number of ratios available.

Now it is important to ride regularly, without excessive strokes on the pedals as you would tend to do on a normal bike uphill, obviously staying below 25 km/h and letting the e ngine assist the pedaling continuously. With an agile ratio and maximum assistance that is not necessary to push too much on the pedals but just keep a round and regular pedal to engage the engine and feel that you reduce the effort and rise evenly.

Due to the speed limitation within which the engine operates, downhill basically the assisted pedaling is not necessary so it is advisable to lower the level of assistance to a minimum, in Eco mode, set a ratio with a good metric development, and focus solely on downhill riding of your bicycle, keeping in mind that battery on the oblique tube and motor on the middle movement change a bit the center of gravity of the bicycle and, as far as specifically studied, It's not really like riding a regular bike.
